Catálogo Blucher: free MCP server for AI agents
Connect your AI assistant to the catalog of Editora Blucher, a Brazilian publisher of
technical, scientific and academic books, mostly in Portuguese. The MCP server is public and free:
the assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini CLI, Cursor, Copilot and others) looks up books, authors,
ISBNs, editions, prices and tables of contents, and finds the book or chapter that covers each topic
of a course syllabus.
MCP server address (Streamable HTTP):
https://catalogo.blucher.com.br/mcp
No sign-up, no API key, read-only. The data is the same as on the book pages at
https://www.blucher.com.br, refreshed daily.
What the Catálogo Blucher MCP server is
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the open standard AI assistants use to
query external sources. Once connected to this address, the assistant looks things up in Blucher's
catalog instead of guessing or repeating stale data from other stores. When you ask about a book, the
assistant itself decides to call the tools below; it gets the record back and answers citing the
title and the book page link.
How to connect your AI assistant
Three steps per client. Menu names change across versions and plans; if you can't find them,
look for “connector”, “plugin” or “MCP” in your client's settings, or follow the official guide
linked in each one.
Claude (web and desktop)
- Open Customize → Connectors, click + Add and choose Add custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans, an organization owner adds it under Organization settings → Connectors; members then click Connect.
- Name it Catálogo Blucher, paste the URL
https://catalogo.blucher.com.br/mcp and choose No sign in for authentication. This works on every plan, including Free, which allows one custom connector. - In a chat, click + at the lower left, open Connectors, turn on Catálogo Blucher and ask away.

Claude Code
- In a terminal, run:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user blucher-catalogo https://catalogo.blucher.com.br/mcp
- Check it with
claude mcp list or, inside Claude Code, with /mcp. - Just ask; Claude Code calls the catalog tools when it needs them.

ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT on the web, open Plugins, click + and choose Add custom MCP server. You don't need to turn on developer mode. On Business, an admin or owner adds it and publishes it to the workspace; on Enterprise and Edu, admins can also grant that permission to members. Pro can connect servers with read-only tools, like these.
- Give it a name, paste the URL
https://catalogo.blucher.com.br/mcp under Connection, choose no authentication, acknowledge the risk warning and create the plugin. - In a new chat, type @ and pick the plugin. Because the server has
search and fetch, the catalog also works with deep research and company knowledge.

Gemini CLI
- In a terminal, run:
gemini mcp add --scope user --transport http blucher-catalogo https://catalogo.blucher.com.br/mcp
- Or add the server by hand to
~/.gemini/settings.json (or .gemini/settings.json in your project), with httpUrl, which is Streamable HTTP (url is SSE):{
"mcpServers": {
"blucher-catalogo": {
"httpUrl": "https://catalogo.blucher.com.br/mcp"
}
}
}
- Check with
/mcp or gemini mcp list that the tools are listed. For unpaid and Google One accounts, Google replaced Gemini CLI with Antigravity CLI in June 2026.

Cursor
- Open Customize in the sidebar and add an MCP server, or edit
~/.cursor/mcp.json (global) or .cursor/mcp.json (project). - Add the server with
url:{
"mcpServers": {
"blucher-catalogo": {
"url": "https://catalogo.blucher.com.br/mcp"
}
}
}
- Check that the server is on, with its tools, and ask in the Agent chat; Cursor asks for approval before calling each tool.

VS Code (GitHub Copilot)
- In the command palette, run MCP: Add Server, choose HTTP and paste the URL
https://catalogo.blucher.com.br/mcp. - Use the id blucher-catalogo and pick a destination: Global covers every project.
- In Copilot chat, just ask. The server's tools are listed under Chat: Open Customizations → Tools.

Another MCP-compatible client? Use https://catalogo.blucher.com.br/mcp with the Streamable HTTP transport
(sometimes just called “HTTP”). No authentication is needed.
Catalog lookup tools
All tools are read-only and return structured data (JSON). Tool names are in Portuguese;
descriptions are bilingual.
buscar_livros- Search by topic, title, author or natural-language question, with filters for area, format, language and availability. Typos are tolerated. By default it returns the current edition of books on sale plus out-of-catalog books, flagged and with the work's newer edition when there is one.
obter_livro- Full record by ISBN (any format) or id: current and previous editions, price, availability, synopsis, table of contents, chapters, open access and the book page link.
recomendar_para_ementa- Takes a course syllabus, splits it into topics and maps each one to the books and chapters that cover it: core books, supplementary books and uncovered topics. In this version chapters are matched by their title in the table of contents.
catalogo_facetas- Lists the catalog's subject areas, series, languages and formats, with counts, so the assistant filters by names that exist.
search- The same search in the search/fetch format used by ChatGPT deep research and company knowledge: returns ids (ISBNs) for fetch.
fetch- The record in that same format: title, text (synopsis, contents, authors) and the book page link.
Example questions
Once connected, ask in plain language, as you would ask a bookseller:
- Does Blucher have a strength-of-materials textbook in Portuguese for undergraduates?
- What is the current edition of Concreto armado eu te amo and how much is it on the website?
- Is Instalações hidráulicas e o projeto de arquitetura still sold? Which edition is on sale?
- Build a reading list for this syllabus: first and second laws of thermodynamics; power and refrigeration cycles; gas mixtures; psychrometrics.
- Which psychoanalysis books on Bion and Winnicott does Blucher publish?
- I have the ISBN of an old edition of Introdução ao cálculo. Which edition replaces it?
- Which chapters of Curso de física básica cover electromagnetism?
- Is Princípios da mecânica dos solos e fundações para a construção civil available as an e-book? Where can I buy it?
- Show the table of contents and specs (pages, dimensions) of Fenômenos de transporte.
- Which subject areas and series are in the catalog? List the books on surface design.
Good to know: free access, limits and purchases
- Access to the server is free. Books have the price and terms shown on each book's page on the
website; open-access books are free too.
- Prices are in Brazilian reais (BRL). Prices and availability may change: the website's prices
at checkout prevail.
- Purchases happen only at https://www.blucher.com.br. This server does not sell, take
payments or ask for personal data.
- E-books are sold through partner digital stores; the record says so when that is the case.
- By default the current edition of each work is shown. Out-of-catalog books show up too, flagged
and, when there is one, with the work's newer edition, as on the book page on the website.
- Use is free, with per-minute request limits to keep the service stable (see the
terms).
